PLEASANTONIANS 4 PEACE is again sponsoring a candlelight vigil.  We will reflect on the human and monetary costs of the war, honor our veterans who have sacrificed, and visualize ways of moving beyond this conflict to a more peaceful world. Please bring a votive candle in a paper cup so that we do not drip candle wax on the sidewalk or a flashlight.  Signs welcome.  We are planning to continue this monthly event as long as necessary.

Tri Valley Democratic Club presents Peter Angelides of the Prop 13 Reform Task Force who will explain the advantages to California’s local communities of changing the current laws for taxing non-residential property. Peter believes strongly in the proposed changes and is looking forward to speaking about them.  The group is concerned with the continuing adverse impact of Proposition 13 on California government. They drafted a resolution intended to build support for drafting, qualifying, and passing a ballot initiative to change California's property tax laws by removing non-residential commercial property from Proposition 13's tax shelter. See TaxPolicyin21stCentury1.pdf. They are asking for a TVDC endorsement.

Ray Barglow of Democratic Clubs Of America will present the Responsible Plan for Ending the War in Iraq.  Over 50 Democratic Candidates for congress & military advisers have endorsed the plan.  He will also be asking for a TVDC endorsement.
